Our Recipe for Design

When Justin and I started designing wedding invitations, we were total outsiders to the wedding industry.

At that time, all we knew was that a dear friend couldn’t find any wedding stationery that fit her style, or her and her fiancée’s personality … let alone her Persian heritage.

As marketing folks, what we did know was branding. And we had a love of world cultures and global design that continues to this day. Put that together with our delight in making something new and our experience in custom design for business, and our particular wedding style was born.

Global and Theme Inspiration

We are inspired by traditional textiles, decorative arts and architecture from areas such as India, Asia, Africa and Europe. Many of our designs begin with research into authentic cultural motifs that we give a modern twist. When you add to that the joy and whimsy of making a theme come to life, you get the focus of all our designs.

Intricate Prints and Dimensional Design

Again, inspired by world design, we create original intricate patterns that can take hours to get just right. It’s a way to add texture and interest to an invitation without relying on engraving or letterpress.

And with our handmade designs we go further. By adding die cuts, decorative paper, embellishments and layers of paper, we create one-of a-kind, personalized designs that are fun to make and hopefully fun for you and your guests to open.

Colors and Choices

Branding gave us an appreciation for expressing your own style. After all, it’s hard to remember a business that looks like all the others. Many couples feel the same way about their wedding stationery.

So every design comes in multiple colors. Our handmade collection offers over 20 choices in inks, envelopes and backers to make it your own. And couples can even request custom colors in our ready-to-print Zazzle collection.

Lots of Coordinating Stationery

When you are trying to convey a message or bring a theme to life, the best way to do that is consistency. So our designs can be done as saves the dates, invitations, programs and reception designs (and more to come!). That way, you’re easily stylish and off to your next to-do item.

At 12 to 20 hours in research and layout per design, we think it’s time well spent. Yet, as much as we pour ourselves into wedding stationery, it’s the couples that personalize them and share them with families and friends that really bring them to life.
